The ladder got pretty screwed up when Factions came out too didn't it? In the end, between ANet banning guilds, fixing bugs and the ability of those with skill to eventually overcome those without skill, things will be back to normal.

this would only give those guilds a temporary advantage but it should been known that newly introduced skills have adverse effects on the game.

Gaile confirmed the fix on GWO. However, she didn't confirm what would happen to the offending guilds. Ban them all, I say.

What was the problem with it? How can 10...26 dmg kill the guild lord so fast?

Bingo. Lesson learned - if your guild doesn't want to get nailed by a potential skill exploit in the BETA test, then simply don't GvG during the beta event. A-Net has to test the skills somehow, and no matter how many Alpha testers they have, they can't identify every type of potential exploit.

I agree that freezing the ladder during the beta event is a good idea - but then they'd lose some of the innovation/experience that helps them identify such a major exploit.

Oh.. Another thread here. The other will probably get closed/merged. What exactly was the bug? It doesnt sound THAT good..

They cast it on the guild lord so after 10 secs he instantly died.

The damage wasn't killing the Guild Lord, Signet of Might was "destroying" the target it was cast on after 10 seconds.

Being able to walk in, use 1 skill and have a guild lord instantly explode with no chance of healing/stopping it doesn't sound "THAT good" to you?

yeah I was playing few HA matches, and we noticed something is killing us instantly.

For those who don't know all you need to do is to have one spirit close to you (pain, recuperation, etc) and to the target. Cast Signet of Might to *the target*, and .... 10 seconds later.... target is *dead*

Yes, it caused some ridiculous complaints, and havoc in guild ladder

Suprised Anet didn't learn their lesson from last time and lock the ladder...

I don't blame the players, blame Anet for releasing an unfinished product during an open season with real prizes.

One thing: Don't ban the guys running it. Maybe reset their rank, but don't ban. A lot of people were running it for fun, just to have a laugh. And to be honest, I didn't have a lot of problems playing against them.

I'm glad it's fixed.

How it worked from the guild I was watching:
  1. The guild split
  2. A/Rt, W/Rt, Monk and other went to other teams base with Guild Thief
  3. Others defended their own base with speed reducing hexes incase other guild was running this
  4. W/Rt or A/Rt casts a spirit near the lord
  5. They then cast Signet of Might onto the Guildlord
  6. After 10 seconds the Guildlord dies

I just logged in and noticed there was no games to watch and asked guildies what happened. Quite stupid bug, I don't really blame beta testers, but anet should have locked ladder during this event for sure; running for fun is an excuse for ruining the fun, and it fits the bug exploit thing. Reseting their rank sounds fair.
